The Council Serving VMFA as Volunteers since 1955 |
Ask Me Ambassadors |
As Ask Me Ambassadors we are “Front-of-the-House” Greeters, performing a special service for the Museum in making all of our guests feel welcome. It is a fun spot to volunteer as we have the opportunity to interact with visitors, both local and from around the world! Checking coats and other wraps, backpacks, large bags, and umbrellas on rainy days makes it possible for our guests to comfortably enjoy all the Museum has to offer. We also provide wheelchairs and electric scooters as requested, as well as baby strollers and small folding gallery seats - all to enhance the experience of our guests. At the Coat Check Desk we also provide Gallery Maps, answer questions, provide suggestions as requested, and try in any way possible to increase the Visitor Experience. Occasionally during special exhibitions we may be asked to “take tickets” at the exhibition entrance. |
As a Council Volunteer, you agree to perform approximately 18 hours of service per quarter. The Monthly Coat Check Calendar is divided into 2.5 hour timeframes, from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm daily including weekends since VMFA is open 365 days a year! In addition, on three nights every week the Museum stays open until 9:00 pm, so our coverage continues as well. Typically we schedule two Volunteers at the Coat Check Desk for each 2.5 hour shift. This provides a wonderful opportunity to get to know new people as you chat during breaks. Scheduling is “Volunteer Friendly” and flexible. Come join us! Kay Mast Chair, Ask Me Ambassadors |
